Building a new office is tough enough without considering the environment but if you’ve got a say in the process you’ve also got a responsibility to be eco-aware when construction’s done. Get out there and get your hands in some of the tasks below to save your company and the earth in the long run:
Pick a Provider: If you live in a deregulated area, choose an energy provider that best meets your needs and also cares about the environment. Get Stream Energy Information and research other eco-friendly options before you sign.
Invest in Materials: Eco-friendly materials have a bad rap for being pricey but if you choose carefully you can save a lot of money in the future. Bamboo floors, ergonomic organic chairs and solar lights are great ways to spend more now and cut costs later.
Encourage Responsibility: Whether you’ve got an office of 3 or 300, devise a plan for working together to save energy. Set incentives, talk about turning off machines at night and set some bathroom rules (no wasting water!) and watch everyone pitch in.

The holidays are always right around the corner! For those of us who bake, the holidays can become an extra busy time of year. It’s like the holidays turn on a sweet tooth that friends and family just cannot turn off until it starts to warm up again. And don’t forget those co-workers! There’s hardly a better way to break the ice in a new office, or endear yourself to existing co-workers than holiday cookies, cakes, and fudge!

There are numerous types of baking that people tend to only do on the holidays. From lady fingers and buckeyes to ornament shaped sugar cookies, every family has a few holiday specific treats in it’s recipe collection. Some people only bake in or around the holidays, even when they cook all year.

Make sure you’re ready this holiday season, and get all your baking supplies ahead of time! Cookie cutters, icing bags, and even basic baking supplies like sugars and flours can, and should, be purchased and stored all year in expectation of the holidays! No one wants to drive through a snowstorm to finish making a gingerbread house, so the best thing to do is be prepared before the holidays start!

Congratulations for taking on baking! Baked goods are timeless additions to meals – and they’re delicious!

Some tips to remember as you embark on your new hobby or career:

- Temperature is included in a recipe for a reason. Different temperatures result in different finished products – so be sure to follow the temperature instructions carefully. Baking banana bread at a higher temperature won’t mean you’ll get great banana bread faster – it will mean ending up with an unusable mess!

- There is always a little leeway in baking time, due to slight temperature differences oven to oven. So, if your recipe says to bake a cake for twenty minutes but you can clearly see that it’s done in fifteen, don’t feel like you need to continue baking it. Overcooking changes the consistency of baked goods and will often dry them out.

- Follow the recipe for ingredients carefully – each dry or wet ingredient is included in the recipe for a reason. However, for add-ons such as raisins, chocolate chips, or walnuts, feel free to have a little fun and add or subtract as you desire.

- Don’t get frustrated if things don’t turn out perfectly right away. Over time, you’ll get to know your oven, your ingredients, how things should look and when they should look that way. You’re a beginner, so let yourself learn and explore!

So you think baking is boring? What is so boring about creating a tasty treat that your family, friends and you will enjoy? Everyone loves cakes, brownies, cookies and other yummy baked items, and when you bake, you can cook up these sweet treats in your own special way. Even if you think baking is boring, you know you love the smell in the air of fresh, baked goods drifting out of the oven. Nothing makes people smile more than enjoying a hot, fresh cookie or other baked treat. If you want to get more enjoyment out of baking so that your home can be filled with the sweet smell of cookies or cake, you should make it fun!

First of all, if you have children, you need to include them in on the preperations. Kids love to bake, and if you include your kids, you are certain to have a good time while making cherished memories they will treasure for the rest of their lives. Even if you don’t have kids, you can always get together with friends to bake. The smiles and conversation that will take place during the baking process only add to the excitement of getting to taste the finished product. Nothing says baking fun like baking with friends and loved ones!

As you can see, baking doesn’t have to be a bore when you include the help of your kids or your friends. The entire process will be more fun when you share with each other your special creations both as they are being made, and as you are all enjoying the pleasure of eating your baked, sweet treats when they come out of the oven.
